 🎯 Course Objective

This foundation program is designed for beginners and hobbyists who want to understand their camera, lighting, and composition to create professional-quality photographs.
By the end of the course, students will gain full manual control of their camera and confidence in composing, lighting, and editing their images.


📅 Weekly Breakdown

Week 1 – Understanding Your Camera

Goal: Get comfortable with your camera’s functions and settings.
Topics Covered:

  • Introduction to DSLR / Mirrorless camera parts & menus

  • Lens types and focal lengths explained

  • Exposure triangle: ISO, Aperture, Shutter Speed

  • White balance, metering modes, and focus types

  • Practice Session: Shooting in Manual mode
    Assignment: Capture 5 photos using different lighting and exposure settings.


Week 2 – Composition & Visual Storytelling

Goal: Learn how to frame better pictures and add emotion to your shots.
Topics Covered:

  • Rule of thirds, leading lines, and framing

  • Perspective & angles

  • Foreground, background, and negative space

  • How to tell a story through photos

  • Practice Session: Composition walk (indoor + outdoor)
    Assignment: Submit 3 well-composed photographs with captions.


Week 3 – Lighting Techniques

Goal: Understand natural & artificial lighting and how to shape it.
Topics Covered:

  • Light direction, intensity, and color temperature

  • Shooting in natural light vs. indoor light

  • Using reflectors, diffusers & LED lights

  • Introduction to portrait lighting setups

  • Practice Session: One-light portrait setup
    Assignment: Shoot 3 portraits using natural and artificial light.


Week 4 – Post-Processing & Portfolio Building

Goal: Learn how to refine and present your work professionally.
Topics Covered:

  • Introduction to Adobe Lightroom (or similar)

  • Basic retouching: exposure, color, cropping, and clarity

  • Image export, file formats, watermarking

  • Building a mini portfolio (5 best shots)

  • Course review + Q&A with mentor
    Final Project: Submit a small 5-photo portfolio showcasing what you’ve learned.
